The Play-a-thon is a beloved Burlingame tradition, an important fundraiser for the BHS Music Department and a meaningful community event. Bands and choirs will perform continuously at the Burlingame Train Station and make a special trip up and down Burlingame Avenue. Date and time TBD.

The Music Boosters sponsors the Play-a-thon. As a parent of music students, you are a Music Booster. Together with our musicians’ amazing directors, we make the music programs sing!

What are we raising money for?

The Music Boosters’ fundraising revenue is an essential supplement to the school budget.

      • We support scholarships so that all students can participate in group trips like the National Youth Choir Invitational at Carnegie Hall.
      • We support performance attire that allows musicians to shine. This year we’re replacing 50 year-old marching band uniforms and performance dresses.
      • We support purchase of sheet music and instrument repair/maintenance.

Play-a-thon funds nearly half of Music Booster $20,000 annual budget. That’s why your participation is vital!

Did you know?

BHS marching band uniforms are older than the students wearing them. Many have been in continuous use since 1969. That’s right, 50 years old! Although the San Mateo High School District is funding a majority of the $800/uniform replacement cost, Music Boosters must contribute approximately 20% of the expense.

How can families support the event?

Families are an important part of the event’s success and we hope you enjoy being part of it! Please consider selling raffle tickets, baking, and volunteering on April 27th. Sign up to volunteer at the link below:
